Trattamenti Moxabustione

Moxa Therapy is an ancient Chinese treatment based on the application of heat to acupuncture points and Meridians. It is surprising that this technique remains relatively unknown in the West, considering how widespread the use of heat for therapeutic purposes is—just think of hot water bottles, or in a more scientific context, the use of infrared rays, Tecar therapy, and so on.
Heat, as a therapeutic principle, is all the more effective when the heat source is small but intense, and its application is highly localized—for example, on acupuncture points whose properties have been known for thousands of years.
In moxa therapy, the action of heat is combined with the therapeutic reflex effect typical of acupuncture, the benefits of which have been proven countless times.

Therefore, it can be said that applying heat to a specific and localized area—such as an acupuncture point or Meridian—enhances its therapeutic properties much more effectively than applying heat to a larger surface.

The most practical and widespread method of applying moxa in the East is the use of a stick or cigar made of Artemisia (mugwort). When incandescent, Artemisia emits heat ranging from 500°C to 600°C within an infrared spectrum that has proven highly effective for therapeutic purposes. The Artemisia stick is held at a safe distance from the skin to avoid burns, producing no discomfort and leaving no marks.
